Ash Rowbottom (she/her)

Ash received her Master of Music Therapy through The University of Melbourne in 2018, and she is an accredited Registered Music Therapist through the Australian Music Therapy Association. 

 

She is currently completing her PhD through the same institution, and her research is focussed primarily on the impact of music therapy and AI in traumatic brain injury rehabilitation. In her music therapy work, she has a special interest in mental health and neurorehabilitation.

​

Ash is also a Registered Counsellor, specialising in mental health. Her specific areas of interest in that space are womxn's health, complex mental health, life transitions and trauma.

​

In all aspects of therapy, Ash is passionate about the trauma-informed approach and utilises this lens in all interventions. Her aim is for participants to feel safe and comfy, and for her to be a fellow traveller on their therapeutic journey. 

​

Ash is Chairperson for the Australian Music Therapy Association (Queensland Branch) and leads a team of dedicated RMT volunteers on that committee.​  She is a cellist of nearly 30 years however mostly utilises guitar and ukulele for her music therapy work. Ash is proud to be a queer + neurodivergent small business owner and loves to mentor.

Outside of her work and university studies, Ash enjoys spending time with her partner Kassie  (also a Registered Music Therapist), and their 4 pets.

Siana Davis (she/her)

Registered Music Therapist 

Siana is a warm and enthusiastic person who holds a deep love for music and connecting with others. Her passion to learn about music and its contributions to health led Siana to graduate with her Masters of Music Therapy (M.Mus.Thy.) through The University of Melbourne in 2023. Prior to finishing her Masters, Siana has also obtained a Bachelor of Music Performance and Songwriting (B.Mus.) and a Diploma of Music Industry (Dip.Mus.Ind.) during highschool at Music Industry College (renowned as the real life 'School of Rock'). She is proud to be a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) accredited by the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA), and a Professional Musician within the Australian Music Industry. Siana has a background as a multi-instrumentalist, and has established a name in the music industry for writing and publishing her music, performing in bands, and extensively touring as a professional rock performer, singer and bass player. Siana has also mentored upcoming musicians on their journeys within the music industry.

 

Throughout her music therapy journey, Siana has offered music therapy to babies, children, adolescents, young people and adults across the lifespan. She has also facilitated individual and group music therapy programs for at home-visits, allied health spaces, schools, aged care residencies and hospitals. Siana continues to have a special interest in working with autistic people, particularly autistic adolescents and children. Siana also works with people affected by mental health broadly, and her focus area is working with people affected by eating disorders or eating issues.

 

Siana is neurodiverse and also shares lived experience coming into the music therapy rooms and in other mental health spaces. She holds qualities of compassion, care and connection within her work, and is committed to offering a holistic service that honours each person and is tailored to centering who they are as individuals and beyond. Siana works alongside people, their families and allied health teams to foster the most positive and empowering experience that strives towards achieving their goals and dreams.

 

Outside of working musically, Siana considers herself a 'creative', as she enjoys making pottery and painting. Siana also loves adventuring to wonders across Australia, typically partaking in a forest walk or spending a day in the ocean. As a lover of all animals, Siana also spends a lot of time playing with her dog Ollie and cooking food.

Shruthika Palvannan (she/her)

Music Therapy Assistant

Shruthi is set to graduate with a Bachelor of Psychological Science from Griffith University in December 2024. She holds a Diploma of Music from Music Industry College and a Diploma of Creative Arts from the University of Southern Queensland. A passionate vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Shruthi plays piano, guitar, and enjoys songwriting - her favourite music therapy intervention! 

​

She plans to complete the Master of Music Therapy at the University of Melbourne and is dedicated to working with a diverse range of participants across all age groups. Her experience includes working in mental health with teenagers, supporting adults with acquired brain injuries, as well as children with ASD, ADHD, vision impairments and Global Developmental Delay (GDD). 

​

In the future, Shruthi aims to expand her work in mental health, particularly with teenagers, and to support children with serious illnesses such as cancer through a holistic approach to music therapy.  

​

Outside of work, Shruthi enjoys exploring nature on hikes and walks with her dog Lilly. In her free time, you'll find her songwriting, crocheting or recharging by spending time with her friends and family!
